Yoyo loved swimming. Today, she wanted to jump into the big pool at the YMCA. But the pool looked so big and deep! Yoyo felt a little scared. - I want to jump! Yoyo said to her mom. - You can do it, Yoyo, her mom replied, encouragingly.
Yoyo took a deep breath and walked closer to the pool. She saw the big splash her friend Kayla made when she jumped in. Yoyo got nervous and stepped back. - I can't do it, she whispered to herself. Her heart was thumping loudly.
Yoyo tried again, but now the lifeguard blew the whistle, making her jump. She saw waves in the pool and felt even more worried. - Maybe I should wait, Yoyo thought. She watched as everyone else seemed to have fun.
Yoyo sat on the bench, feeling sad. She watched the other kids jumping and cheering. - I give up, she sighed. It seemed like she would never be brave enough. Her mom sat down next to her.
Suddenly, Yoyo's swimming teacher, Mr. Bill, came over. - Yoyo, do you know why you love swimming? he asked. - Because it's fun! she answered. - Then remember, swimming is just about having fun, not about how high you jump. Yoyo smiled and felt a bit braver.
