She had her red glasses on and rain boots ready. But as she looked around, the beach seemed full of plain, ordinary shells. Alice started her search, but as she crouched down, she noticed something. Her boots were stuck in the sticky sand! She tugged and pulled but couldn't move. " - Oh no! I'm stuck!" she exclaimed. She realized she couldn't find her perfect shell if she couldn't move. This was her first big obstacle.
After freeing her boots, Alice found a rock pool full of fascinating sea creatures. Excited, she bent down to grab a shell, but a crab pinched her finger! " - Ouch!" she cried, pulling back her hand. The crab scuttled away, leaving Alice with nothing. " - This is harder than I thought," she muttered. She felt like she was getting further from her perfect shell.
Feeling defeated, Alice sat down on the sand. Maybe she should just give up. " - Maybe there isn't a perfect shell out there," she thought sadly. The waves gently lapped at her boots. She watched them, feeling a little lost. The idea of going home without a special shell made her heart sink.
