Benício loved flying his bright red kite in the sunny squares and breezy beaches of Vitória-ES. One day, while he was playing, a strong gust of wind snatched his kite away! It soared high and disappeared over the hill. Benício felt his heart drop. - I need to find my kite, he said. It was his favorite and he couldn’t imagine losing it forever.
Determined, Benício ran towards the hill where the kite vanished. But as he reached the top, he realized it was much steeper than he remembered. - I can't climb this, he thought, feeling worried. The hill seemed to grow taller with every step. Benício sat down, scared and unsure. What if he never found his kite?
Benício decided to try another way. He ran down to the beach, hoping the kite might have landed there. But as he reached the shore, he saw waves crashing loudly against the rocks. - It's too dangerous to search there, he thought. The ocean seemed endless and unwelcoming. Disheartened, Benício sat on the sand, unsure of what to do next.
As the sun began to set, Benício felt like giving up. - Maybe my kite is gone forever, he sighed. His heart was heavy with sadness. Just then, his friend Lucas came running over. - Don't give up! Lucas encouraged. - We'll find it together, I promise. Benício felt a spark of hope returning.
Lucas had an idea. - Let's ask Mr. Oliveira, the kite maker, he suggested. Mr. Oliveira had seen many kites fly away and always had great advice.
