After cleaning up, Alexander tries again. This time, he can't find the sugar anywhere. He looks in every cupboard. - Where is the sugar? he wonders. His little hands start to feel tired. - I just want to bake a cake for Mommy!
Feeling defeated, Alexander sits on the kitchen floor. - I can't do it, he sighs. He thinks about giving up. But then, he remembers how much he wanted to surprise his mom. - Maybe I should try one more time, he says, feeling a tiny spark of hope.
Just then, Grandma comes into the kitchen. - Do you need some help, Alexander? she asks kindly. She shows him how to mix the ingredients. - Wow, this is fun! Alexander says, smiling. Together, they make the perfect cake batter.
