One day, Roni found an old balloon in her backyard. She was excited and tried to blow it up, but it wouldn't inflate. She felt frustrated and stomped her foot. - Why won't this balloon work? she exclaimed. Her first obstacle seemed impossible to overcome.
Roni decided to ask her older brother for help. He tried using a pump, but it only made odd noises and the balloon stayed flat. - This isn't working, Roni, her brother said. Then, a strong wind blew, and the balloon flew out of her hands, almost disappearing. - Oh no! cried Roni. More obstacles kept piling up.
Feeling defeated, Roni sat on the porch steps, ready to give up her dream. - Maybe I’ll never see a balloon fly high, she sighed. She felt a little tear in her eye. Her dream seemed so far away now. But she remembered how much she loved balloons and didn't want to give up.
Just then, Roni's mom came outside and sat next to her. - What’s wrong, Roni? she asked gently. Roni explained her troubles, and her mom smiled. - Have you tried filling it with helium? her mom suggested. Roni's eyes lit up with new hope. That was the solution she needed!
