Blitz the Hippo
Blitz the Hippo is new to the zoo and worried about fitting in because of his small size. With the help of Flawdy the Flamingo, he learns courage and discovers that being different is his strength.
Blitz the Hippo just moved to the zoo. He was smaller than the other hippos and felt very shy. He worried that the other animals would laugh at him. His new friend, Flawdy the Flamingo, noticed his worry. - Why are you so sad? Flawdy asked. - I’m scared they won't like me because I'm small, Blitz answered.
Blitz wanted to join a game the other hippos were playing. But when he approached, he tripped over a rock and fell. The other hippos giggled, making Blitz feel even smaller. He walked away with his head down. - I just can't do anything right, Blitz sighed. - Don't worry, Flawdy encouraged, we all make mistakes.
The next day, Blitz tried to impress everyone by rolling a big muddy ball. But the ball was too heavy and he couldn't move it. The other animals watched, whispering to each other. Blitz felt tears coming to his eyes. - I want to be like them, Blitz said to Flawdy. - You're great just as you are, Flawdy replied.
Blitz saw the other hippos splashing happily in the water. He wanted to join, but didn't know how to swim well. He felt like giving up. - I just can't do anything right, Blitz cried. - Maybe you just need a little help, Flawdy suggested. - But what if I fail again? Blitz worried.
Blitz sat alone, feeling like he'd never fit in. He thought about giving up and hiding in his cave. - I’ll just stay here forever, he said sadly. - Don't be silly, Flawdy said. - You’ve got to try again! What if you’re just one step away from success?
Flawdy had an idea and called over the wise old tortoise. The tortoise told Blitz about a secret courage dance. - Can you teach me? Blitz asked. - Of course, said the tortoise. With Flawdy's help, Blitz learned the steps and practiced every day.
Blitz decided to try the courage dance at the big animal gathering. He was nervous but remembered Flawdy and the tortoise's encouragement. As he danced, everyone watched in awe. - Look at Blitz! they cheered. Blitz felt proud and happy.
Blitz realized he didn't need to be big to be brave. He made lots of friends and felt happy being himself. - Thank you, Flawdy, Blitz said. - You showed me that courage comes from the heart. - I'm proud of you, Flawdy smiled. Blitz and Flawdy danced together, celebrating friendship and courage.
