Daddy Works at Night
Theodore, a curious 2-year-old, struggles to understand why his Daddy leaves for work at night. Feeling lonely and missing his Daddy, Theodore faces the challenge of staying brave through the night. Theodore's Daddy leaves for work every night. Theodore feels sad and wonders why Daddy has to go. " - Why does Daddy go at night?" Theodore asks. Theodore decides to stay awake until Daddy comes home. " - I'll wait for Daddy," he tells Mommy. But staying up is hard for a little boy. His eyes feel heavy, and he starts to yawn. " - Try to sleep, sweetie," Mommy gently suggests. Theodore hugs his teddy bear tightly.
Theodore feels brave but misses Daddy more. " - I want to see Daddy," he whispers to his bear. He tiptoes to the window, hoping to spot Daddy. The night is long, and Theodore feels small. " - I'm not sleepy!" he insists to himself. But the stars twinkle, and the silence grows.
Theodore feels like giving up on staying awake. His eyes are too sleepy to keep open. " - I can't do it," he tells Mommy. " - It's okay to sleep," Mommy comforts him. Theodore crawls back under his blankets, feeling disappointed. " - I wish I was brave," he sighs.
Mommy has an idea to help Theodore. " - Let's make a special picture for Daddy," she suggests. Theodore picks up crayons and starts drawing. " - Daddy will love it!" Mommy encourages. Theodore's heart feels lighter as he colors a bright bus and a smiling sun. " - I can be brave like Daddy," he nods.
Theodore wakes to see Daddy in the morning. " - Look, Daddy!" Theodore cheers, showing his drawing. Daddy smiles and gives Theodore a big hug. " - I'm so proud of you!" Daddy says. Theodore feels brave and happy, knowing he helped make Daddy's work special too. " - Daddy's home!" he giggles.
