In a big, green jungle, there lived an elephant named Ellie and a giraffe named Gerry. They were the best of friends. Their families shared the same jungle and even ate in the same spots! Gerry would nibble the yummy leaves up high. Ellie would munch the sweet grass down low.
They played by the river, splashed in the water, and grew up with laughter and fun. Every day was sunny, and every night was peaceful. But one year, something strange happened. The sun grew hotter and hotter. The clouds didn’t come. And the river… dried up.
The grass turned brown. The trees drooped low. The animals were thirsty and sad. Ellie and Gerry looked at each other. - If we stay here, we’ll all suffer, said Gerry. - We need to find out why the river stopped, said Ellie.
Everyone in the jungle was worried. - It’s too far! It’s too dangerous! But Ellie and Gerry believed in each other. And they believed in doing the right thing. So off they went—walking through hills, sleeping under stars, helping each other along the way.
After many days, they saw something huge! A giant wall made of wood—taller than trees, wider than the river. - What is that? whispered Gerry. - It’s a dam, said Ellie. - And listen… water!
Behind the wall was a big, sparkling pool. But the water wasn’t reaching the jungle. Beavers had built the dam to keep the water for themselves. Ellie and Gerry knew the jungle needed it too. - We must break the dam, said Gerry. - Together, said Ellie.
Ellie pushed with her strong head. Gerry kicked with his long legs. But the wall didn’t budge. Then they tried together—BOOM! CRACK! The wood began to split.
- One more time! cried Gerry. With a final mighty push—the dam broke! Whoosh! The water rushed out—sweeping Ellie and Gerry into the river! - Hold on! shouted Ellie, grabbing Gerry with her trunk.
Together, they popped up, laughing and coughing. Back home, the river returned! Water flowed! The grass turned green! The trees danced again!
