The Day Dax Saved the Rainbow

Courage Watercolor style

Join Dax, a curious young dinosaur, as he embarks on an adventure to find a missing rainbow in his lush valley. Along the way, he encounters obstacles and doubts, but with courage, he discovers the true magic of rainbows and friendship.

Once upon a time, in a sunny, green valley filled with colorful flowers and tall trees, there lived a dinosaur named Dax. Dax wasn’t like the other dinosaurs in the valley. While most of the dinosaurs were big and green, Dax was small and orange and loved adventures. Dax loved to explore the valley. He would run through the meadows, leap over rocks, and splash in the stream. But there was one thing Dax loved more than anything else: rainbows!

Dax loved to look at rainbows. But today, after a gentle rain shower, Dax noticed something strange. The sky was gray, and the rainbow didn’t appear in the sky! Dax's heart sunk. "Where is the rainbow?" he wondered aloud. He just had to find it! He looked and looked, but there was no colorful arc stretching across the clouds. Dax was puzzled. He decided that he was going to find the missing rainbow.

“I’ll find the rainbow and bring it back,” Dax said, bouncing excitedly on his little feet. “I just need to follow the colors!” Dax took a deep breath, and off he went, following the familiar trails where rainbows usually appeared. He marched through the meadow, past the big oak tree, and over the hill, but there was still no rainbow in sight.

Determined, Dax found a winding path through the grass. As he walked deeper into the forest, Dax spotted his friend, Lily the bluebird, hopping around on a branch. "Hi, Lily. Have you seen the rainbow?" asked Dax. "It's lost." Lily tilted her head and chirped. “I saw a flash of color near the Big Rock by the river! Maybe the rainbow is there!” Dax’s eyes lit up. “Thanks, Lily!” he said, and raced off toward the river.

When he reached the Big Rock by the river, Dax saw something incredible. A soft, glowing light was shining from the water. It wasn’t a rainbow, but it was something so magical! Dax carefully walked up to the big glowing rock and touched it with his tiny claws. There, he found there were dozens of tiny rainbow-colored stones surrounding the large glowing stone in the middle of the water that shimmered with all the colors of the rainbow. It was almost like a secret treasure. Is this where the parts of the rainbow lived? Dax gently picked a small stone up with his mouth and held it in his tiny claws.

With renewed courage, Dax said, “This must be the missing rainbow!” But then he noticed something. The stone was glowing, but it wasn’t quite as bright as the rainbows in the sky. Dax thought for a moment and had an idea. "This has to be the missing piece to the rainbow!" he said to himself. “I know!” he said. “With this stone I can help make the rainbow whole again!” A huge smile spread across his face. "I can do this!" he exclaimed. Carefully, he started back toward the valley, his heart filled with determination. Dax ran back toward the meadow, holding the tiny stone in his claws. He called out to all his friends.

“Everyone, come see! I’ve found the rainbow’s lost piece!” Soon, the valley was filled with his friends, all wondering what Dax was up to. He gathered them all together, and with a big smile, he held up the glowing stone. “I think this stone is part of the missing rainbow,” Dax said. “I found it where the origin of the rainbow lives, down by the river. Maybe we can make the rainbow come back if we all work together!” The other animals nodded in agreement. Together they hiked to the spot where the rainbow lands and gently placed the glowing stone on the rock and waited to see what happened.

Together, with their hearts full of love and friendship, they watched as something amazing happened. The sky began to glow, and from the very spot where the stone lay, a brilliant rainbow started to form! Everyone cheered and danced beneath the rainbow, and Dax felt so happy he could hardly stop smiling. “We did it!” he shouted. “We brought the rainbow back!” From that day on, every time the rain fell and the sun came out, Dax knew that the rainbow would always return — and that it was a little bit more magical because of the friendship and teamwork that helped make it shine.
