" - Is this seat taken?" he asked shyly, his voice barely a whisper. But the kids shook their heads, and he moved on. Each rejection felt like a mountain he couldn't climb.
Feeling defeated, Blain sat alone at the edge of the playground during recess. Tears threatened to spill as he watched others play. " - I don't belong here," he sighed. He thought about giving up and asking his parents to homeschool him instead. The thought of trying again tomorrow felt overwhelming.
Just then, a friendly voice interrupted his thoughts. " - Hey, you want to join our game?" a kid named Jesse asked. Blain hesitated but nodded slowly. " - It's easier when you're not alone," Jesse smiled. Blain realized he didn't have to face everything by himself. " - Maybe I can do this," he thought, a flicker of hope igniting inside him.
With newfound courage, Blain joined Jesse and the others in their game. He laughed and ran, feeling lighter with each step. " - This isn't so bad," he admitted, surprised by his own words.
