Helena was nervous about her first day at the new school. She clutched her backpack tightly as snowflakes danced around her. In this new city, everything felt different, and she missed her old friends. Helena's biggest worry was making new friends in the giant school building. She whispered to herself, "I hope someone will talk to me today." The thought of being all alone made her stomach flutter with butterflies.
As Helena entered the classroom, she felt everyone's eyes on her. The teacher, Miss Maple, introduced her to the class. "Welcome, Helena," Miss Maple said. Helena's cheeks turned red as she waved shyly. She wanted to join a group playing with blocks, but her feet felt glued to the floor. "What if they don't like me?" she thought sadly.
At recess, Helena watched the other kids from the edge of the playground. She saw a group building a snowman and wanted to join. " - Can I help?" she asked timidly.
