Grandad! What's That?

Ruby loved visiting her grandad at his bustling takeaway restaurant, with its lively chatter and delicious smells. But today, something caught her eye—a shiny, strange object sitting on the counter. Her curiosity sparked instantly. "Grandad! What's that?" she asked, pointing at it eagerly. Grandad squinted at the object and shrugged. "I’m not sure, Ruby," he replied. Ruby’s stomach dropped. A knot tightened in her chest, and her breath quickened. "What do you mean you don’t know? You have to know!" she said, her voice rising as panic bubbled to the surface. Her thoughts raced in a confusing whirlwind. Why doesn’t he know? He’s supposed to know everything! The frustration swirled inside her like a storm, and her hands balled into fists. "I just need to understand!" she cried, the words tumbling out like a desperate plea. The noise of the restaurant became unbearably loud. The clatter of pans and voices blurred together, overwhelming her senses. Tears pricked at her eyes as she stomped her foot. Her grandad looked at her with concern. "Ruby, it’s okay," he said gently. But Ruby couldn’t hear him through the storm raging in her mind. She felt trapped, unable to explain the urgency of finding the answer. The shiny object sat there, taunting her, as if holding a secret no one else could see.

Ruby asked the customers, " - Do you know what this is?" But no one had an answer. She felt frustrated, " - Why won't anyone tell me?" she huffed. She was beginning to feel like no one understood her.

Ruby sat down, feeling defeated. " - Maybe I'll never find out," she sighed. She almost gave up, thinking it was impossible. Tears welled up in her eyes. " - Why can't anyone see it's important?" she whispered to herself. She wanted to understand so badly, but it seemed hopeless.

" - Let's figure it out together," he smiled. Ruby realized she didn't have to solve everything by herself. Her grandad's words gave her hope and a new idea.

With Grandad by her side, Ruby asked questions in a new way, " - Can we learn what this does together?" They looked at books and searched online. Finally, they discovered it was a part of a special cooking tool. Ruby beamed, " - We did it, Grandad!" She learned that sometimes, wisdom means seeing things from a new angle and asking for help.
