Boot's mom took her to the hairdresser, but Boot hid behind her mom's legs. "I don't want to do this," she whispered. The hairdresser was kind and smiled at Boot, but Boot's feet felt stuck to the floor. "What if it hurts?" Boot asked, looking worried. Her heart beat fast like a drum.
Then, Boot saw a big, shiny chair and it looked like a spaceship. "Can I sit there?" Boot asked, curious despite her fear. But the chair was too high, and Boot couldn't climb up. "Help! I can't reach," she cried, feeling frustrated. "It's okay, we can lift you up," said her mom, but Boot still felt unsure.
Boot sat in the chair but started to cry. "I can't do this," she said, covering her face. Her mom hugged her tight and said, "You are so brave, Boot." But Boot shook her head and said, "I'm not brave, I'm scared." She wanted to get down and run away.
Then, the hairdresser showed Boot a magic mirror. "Look, you can see yourself turning into a princess," she said. Boot peeked into the mirror and saw her crown and cape. "Wow, I'm a princess!" Boot giggled, feeling a little braver. "I can do this!" Boot said with a smile.
With her new courage, Boot let the hairdresser trim her hair. She watched as her long locks fell to the floor. "It's not so scary!" Boot laughed, feeling proud. When it was done, Boot looked in the mirror and smiled. "I love my new haircut!" she said, twirling around.
