Annir was walking with his mom in the suburbs of Montréal. They spotted a homeless man sitting on the cold sidewalk. Annir's heart felt heavy seeing the man shivering. He turned to his mom with big, worried eyes.
- Mom, can we help him? Annir asked. His mom nodded, but they had nothing with them. They decided to go back home to find food and blankets. Annir's excitement grew as he imagined helping the man.
When they got home, they realized they didn't have much food left. Annir's mom sighed. Annir felt sad but didn't give up. They gathered some bread and a couple of blankets. It wasn't much, but it was something.
- This isn't enough, Mom, Annir said, feeling defeated. His mom hugged him gently. They decided to ask their neighbors for help. Annir felt shy knocking on doors, but he was determined.
At first, the neighbors didn't have much to give either. Annir felt like giving up. But then, an old lady from next door handed them a big bag of apples and some warm clothes. Annir's eyes lit up.
- Thank you so much! Annir said with a smile. They rushed back to the homeless man. Annir handed him the food and blankets. The man's eyes filled with tears of gratitude as he smiled warmly.
