Horses in Al Chicken Pen

Courage Watercolor style

Kathy dreams of finding a horse on her birthday, but instead, she discovers a puzzling situation involving horses and her mother's chicken pen. With courage, Kathy embarks on a journey to solve the mystery, facing obstacles, doubts, and ultimately discovering the key to her dream.

Kathy woke up on her eighth birthday with excitement. She rushed to her window, hoping to see a horse in the backyard. Instead, she only saw her mother's chicken pen with chickens pecking around. " - No horse," Kathy sighed, feeling her heart sink. Her dream of having a pony seemed so far away now. But then, she noticed something unusual near the chicken pen.

Kathy saw some horse tracks leading away from the pen. " - How did these get here?" she wondered aloud. She decided to follow the tracks, hoping they would lead her to her birthday surprise. As she stepped outside, she felt the cold grass under her slippers. " - I have to know what's going on," Kathy told herself.

Kathy followed the tracks into the woods behind her house. The path was narrow and winding, making it difficult to follow. " - Why is it so tricky?" she grumbled, her heart pounding with each step. Suddenly, she heard a rustling sound in the bushes. " - Who's there?" she called out bravely.

Kathy stumbled upon a small clearing where the tracks ended. But there were no horses, just more confusion. " - Where did they go?" she asked, scratching her head. The forest seemed to whisper around her, making her feel small. " - I can't give up now," she thought, taking a deep breath. Determined, she decided to keep looking.

Hours passed, and Kathy still found no horses. " - Maybe it's just a wild goose chase," she mused, feeling tired. She sat on a log, her heart heavy with disappointment. " - Why didn't I just stay home?" she wondered, considering giving up. But her love for horses urged her to try once more.

Just as she was about to turn back, Kathy heard a soft neigh from behind some bushes. " - Could it be?" she whispered, her heart racing. She found a small, lost pony tangled in some vines. " - I'll help you!" Kathy exclaimed, rushing to free it. The pony nuzzled her, and she smiled brightly. " - You're my birthday pony!" she laughed.

Kathy led the pony back home, her heart swelling with happiness. " - Mom, look what I found!" she called as they approached the house. Her mother was surprised but happy to see the pony. " - A real birthday miracle," her mom chuckled, hugging Kathy. " - I knew it was meant to be," Kathy beamed with pride.

That night, Kathy tucked the pony safely in a cozy corner of the barn. " - Goodnight, my friend," she whispered, feeling braver than ever. As she lay in bed, she realized that courage had led her to her dream. " - I did it," she thought, drifting off to sleep with a smile. It was the best birthday ever, and she felt ready for any adventure.
