The squirrel pointed to a narrow, slippery log that they could use to cross. Lucie tried to balance on the log, but she slipped and fell into the water.
After drying off, Lucie and the squirrel continued their journey. Soon, they came across a dark cave that they needed to pass through. Lucie felt her heart race as she peered into the darkness. She held the squirrel's paw tightly and they stepped inside. Just then, a bat swooped down, scaring them both! Lucie tripped and dropped her compass.
Lucie sat down and felt like giving up. She missed her warm home and her granny's comforting hug. The squirrel sat beside her and gave her a nudge. - We can't give up now, Lucie! the squirrel said. - But it's so hard, Lucie replied with tears in her eyes. - Courage is not about not being scared, it's about doing it even when you are, the squirrel encouraged.
