Malu's Adventures with Her Imaginary Friends

Courage Vector style

Malu, an imaginative 8-year-old girl, struggles with school and feels misunderstood by her parents. She embarks on fantastic adventures with her imaginary friends, an elephant who wears glasses and an astronaut penguin, to find the courage to face her real-life challenges.

Malu loved to spend her days imagining stories with her best friends, an elephant who wore glasses and an astronaut penguin. They traveled to planets made of ice cream and met incredible creatures. But at school, Malu found math and reading very difficult. She often felt like her parents didn’t understand her struggles. They thought she was just distracted by her 'fantasies.'

- Why is school so hard for me? Malu sighed to her friends. - Don’t worry, Malu. We’ll help you, said the elephant. - Yes, we’re in this together, added the penguin. Malu smiled, feeling a little better, but she still didn’t know how to make her parents understand.

One evening, Malu received a low grade on her math test. She felt like she had let everyone down. - I’ll never get better at this, she murmured. - Let’s practice together, the penguin suggested. But Malu wasn’t sure even her friends could help this time.

The next day, Malu tried to do her homework, but the numbers and letters swirled around her head. - This is impossible! she cried. - We believe in you, Malu! cheered the elephant. - Just take it one step at a time, advised the penguin. But Malu felt more confused than ever.

Malu decided to try harder, but her classmates teased her when she made mistakes. - You’ll never get it right, they laughed. Malu’s cheeks turned red with frustration. - Don’t listen to them, said the elephant softly. - You are smart and capable, added the penguin. But Malu felt like giving up.

That night, Malu wrote about her feelings in her secret notebook. - I wish I could be brave and smart, she wrote. - You are brave, reminded the penguin. - And you are smart, added the elephant. But Malu couldn’t shake the feeling that she was failing.

Malu’s parents noticed she was quieter than usual. - Is everything okay? her mom asked. - I’m fine, Malu replied, but inside, she felt lost. - Maybe we should talk to her teacher, suggested her dad. Malu knew she needed to speak up, but she didn’t know how.

One day, Malu couldn’t take it anymore. - I can’t do this! she cried, throwing her books aside. - Don’t give up, Malu, urged the elephant. - We’re here for you, said the penguin. But Malu felt like nothing could help her now.

Suddenly, Malu had an idea. - What if I show my parents my secret notebook? she wondered. - That’s a great idea! exclaimed the penguin. - They’ll understand how you feel, the elephant agreed. Malu felt a spark of hope for the first time.

Malu gathered her courage and showed her parents the notebook. - This is how I feel, she said, her voice trembling. Her parents read the stories and looked at the drawings. - We had no idea, her mom said softly. - We’re so proud of you, her dad added. Malu felt a weight lift off her shoulders.
