Max, a young boy from the suburbs of Brisbane, possesses a unique superpower: his autism. During the first practice, Max struggled to keep up with his teammates. The coach shouted, "Pass the ball, Max!" But Max hesitated, unsure of where to aim. He felt the stares of his teammates and heard whispers. It was hard to focus with so much noise around him. "I can do this," Max muttered to himself, trying to stay calm.
As the practices continued, Max faced more challenges. The coach introduced new drills, and Max found them confusing. His teammates seemed frustrated when he didn't get it right away. "Why can't you just pass the ball?" one of them blurted out. Max felt like he was letting everyone down. He wanted to quit and go home.
Max felt overwhelmed and wanted to give up on soccer. He sat on his bed, thinking about quitting. "Maybe I'm just not good at this," he sighed. His mom entered the room and noticed his sadness. "What's wrong, Max?" she asked gently. Max explained his struggles with the team.
One day, an older boy named Sam approached Max during practice. "I used to struggle too," he said with a smile. Sam showed Max a new way to practice that made it easier to understand the drills. Max tried Sam's method and started to improve. He felt a spark of hope. "Thanks, Sam!" Max said, feeling grateful.
With Sam's help, Max's confidence grew. He began to communicate better with his teammates. During a big game, Max made an amazing pass that led to a goal. The team cheered, "Great job, Max!" Max realized his superpower was helping him see the game differently. He had finally found his place in the team.
