Moka and Scout were ready for a lazy day inside. Moka wanted to lounge in the sunbeam by the window, but Scout was full of energy. Scout wanted to play, but Moka just wanted to relax. Scout was the first to speak. - Maybe we can say it was the wind? Moka suggested hesitantly. - But there is no wind inside, Moka, Scout replied, looking at the crumbs. They both knew Mom would be upset about the broken jar. Moka sighed, feeling guilty. They had to figure out what to do.
The pair decided to clean up the mess. - If we clean it up, maybe Mom won't notice, Scout said. They put the bigger pieces of the jar in the trash and swept the crumbs. But as soon as they were done, they heard footsteps coming. Moka felt nervous and guilty as the door opened. Mom looked at them, waiting for an explanation.
Moka thought about pretending everything was okay. - Maybe we should tell the truth, Moka whispered to Scout. Scout nodded, feeling a little scared. - But what if we get into trouble? Scout asked quietly. Moka realized honesty was important, even if they were afraid. They decided to tell Mom what happened.
