But Mustafa soon saw posters of a missing cat all around the neighborhood. The posters made him wonder if Whiskers belonged to someone else.
Mustafa wanted to keep Whiskers, but he knew he should find the owner. He asked his mom, 'What should I do?' She replied, 'We should try to find the owner, Mustafa.' Mustafa felt worried. What if he couldn't find the owner? He decided to start searching the neighborhood.
Mustafa knocked on many doors, asking if anyone had lost a cat. Some people didn't answer, and others said, 'No, it's not our cat.' Mustafa felt sad but didn't give up. He even checked the local market. 'Have you seen this cat?' he asked the shopkeepers. No one recognized Whiskers.
After a long day of searching, Mustafa felt tired and defeated. He sat down on a bench and sighed. 'Maybe I should just keep Whiskers,' he thought. But deep down, he knew it wasn't right. He didn't want to give up just yet.
Just then, a kind old man sat next to Mustafa. 'You look troubled, young man,' he said. Mustafa explained the whole story. The old man smiled and said, 'Honesty is important. Have you tried the community center?' Mustafa's eyes lit up. He hadn't thought of that! 'Thank you!' he said and rushed to the community center.
At the community center, Mustafa saw a lady putting up another lost cat poster. 'Whiskers!' she cried, seeing her cat in Mustafa's arms. Mustafa felt a mix of happiness and sadness. 'I found him,' he said honestly. The lady thanked Mustafa and gave him a big hug. Mustafa learned that honesty truly is the best policy.
