Jake didn't like saying no because he thought it would make his friends sad. But, it was making him feel sad too!
One night, while Jake was snuggled in bed, he heard a soft knock knock… but it wasn’t from his door. It was coming from his heart! And a tiny voice said, 'Can I come in? It’s me, the No-Fairy!'
Jake listened as the No-Fairy explained, 'I can help you say no when you need to. Sometimes, saying no is just as important as saying yes!' Jake felt better knowing he had a friend to help him.
The next morning, Jake was playing when his mom asked him to clean up. Jake looked at his toys and thought for a moment. - 'No, thank you, I want to play a little longer,' Jake said politely.
Later, Jake’s friend asked for his last cookie. Jake didn’t feel like sharing this time, so he listened to the No-Fairy and said, 'No, but I can share a carrot stick!'
That night, the No-Fairy visited again. - 'How did I do?' she asked. - 'You did great!' Jake whispered with a grin. He felt proud of himself for making his own choices.
From then on, Jake knew that saying no was okay when he needed to. And the No-Fairy would always be there to help him with a smile. He felt wise and happy.
