Tolerance Watercolor style

Join Lúcia, a brave young girl who is deaf, as she navigates the challenges of a new school in Brazil. Despite the obstacles she faces in communicating with her classmates, Lúcia discovers the power of sign language and friendship. With the help of her new friend João, she learns to connect with others beyond words, teaching everyone about the beauty of understanding and tolerance.

Lúcia was excited but nervous about her first day at the new school in Brazil. As she looked around the classroom, she felt a little lonely because she couldn't hear the chatter. Her hearing aid helped her catch some sounds, but it wasn't enough to understand everything. Lúcia wanted to make friends, but she worried if they would understand her sign language. She was determined to teach them about her world.

During recess, Lúcia approached a group of kids playing a game. She waved and tried to sign, but they didn't understand her. The kids looked confused and continued their game without her. Lúcia felt a pang of sadness. She wondered how she could ever join in their fun.

The next day, Lúcia tried to join a drawing activity in art class. She used her hands to express her ideas, but the teacher and students struggled to follow. Frustrated, Lúcia’s drawing remained unfinished. She felt like giving up. It seemed impossible to communicate.

Feeling defeated, Lúcia sat alone during lunch. She thought about how she might never make friends. Just then, a boy named João sat next to her. He had seen her signing and was curious. Lúcia began to teach him a few signs, and he seemed eager to learn.

With João's help, Lúcia started to gain confidence. João suggested they teach the whole class a few signs together. Lúcia's face lit up with hope. They practiced and prepared a small presentation. Lúcia began to see a way to share her world with others.

The day of the presentation arrived, and Lúcia was nervous but excited. As she and João signed together, the class watched in awe. Slowly, everyone joined in, trying the signs themselves. Lúcia felt a warmth in her heart, knowing she had opened a new world for them. From that day on, she was never alone at recess again.
