Max holds onto the couch. Max's legs feel shaky. "You can do it, Max!" his sister cheers. Max's hands slip. Max falls on his bottom. Max frowns.

Max crawls to the table. Max pulls up to stand. "Careful, Max!" Dad says. Max's knees feel wobbly. Max holds tight. Max stands tall.

Max sees his ball. Max wants to walk to it. "Come here, Max!" Mama calls. Max takes a step. Max wobbles again. Max falls down.

Max feels tired. Max tries to move. "Come, Max!" his sister says. Max crawls instead. Max feels slow. Max wants to give up.

Max sits down. Max watches others walk. "Walking is hard", Max says. Max feels small. "You will walk soon", Mama says. Max sighs.

Max feels sad. Max can't stand. "I can't do it", Max says. Max sits quietly. Max thinks about giving up. Max feels a tear.

Grandpa visits. Grandpa smiles at Max. "Try my hands, Max, Grandpa says. Max holds Grandpa's hands. Max stands up. Max smiles back.

Max walks with Grandpa. Max feels strong. "Look at me!" Max says. Max takes steps alone. Max walks on his own two feet. Max is happy.
