Max is just a young boy. Max loves to explore. But Max has a big problem. Max wants to walk. Max can't walk yet. Max feels sad, but he is feeling ready to walk.
Max tries to stand up. Max wobbles and falls. Max feels wobbly. "Oh no!" Max says. "It's ok Max, you're only one year old!" Mom says. But Max is determined and tries again.
Max thinks, let's take a step back, Max holds onto the couch. Max's legs feel shaky. "You can do it, Max!" his sister cheers. Max's hands slip. Max falls on his bottom. Max frowns.
Max crawls to the table. Max pulls up to stand. "Careful, Max!" Dad says. Max's knees feel wobbly. Max holds tight. Max stands tall. Max thinks to himself, can I walk on my own now?
Max sees his ball. Max wants to walk to it. "Come here, Max!" Mama calls. Max takes a step. Max wobbles again. Max falls down. Almost there, but maybe I need to make it a little easier.
Max feels tired. Max tries to move. "Come, Max!" his sister says. Max crawls instead. Max feels slow, but he knows he is close.
Max sits down. Max watches others walk. "Walking is hard", Max says. Max feels small. "You will walk soon", Mama says. Max sighs.
Max feels sad. Max can't stand. "I can't do it", Max says. Max sits quietly. Max thinks about giving up. Max feels a tear.
Grandpa visits. Grandpa smiles at Max. "Try my hands, Max, we will do it together!" Grandpa says. Max holds Grandpa's hands. Max stands up. Max smiles back.
Max walks with Grandpa. Max feels strong. "Look at me!" Max says. Max takes steps alone. Max walks on his own two feet. Max is happy.
