Possum, the silly young marsupial, hung from his tail on a branch near Lake Michigan. He loved his home in the forest and enjoyed playing with his friends. One day, he overheard the forest animals in distress. The river was drying up, which would leave the forest animals without water! Possum knew he had to help save his home.
Possum decided to find out what was causing the river to dry up. He met Perch, a wise fish who lived in the lake. Perch flapped his fins and said, - The river's source is blocked by fallen trees. We must clear them to let the water flow again. Possum was eager to help, but the trees were massive and heavy.
Possum and Perch tried to move the fallen trees, but they were too big. - This is harder than I thought, sighed Possum. Just then, a large gust of wind nearly knocked Possum into the water. To make matters worse, a beaver warned them that more trees might fall in the coming storm! Possum began to doubt if they could fix the river.
Possum sat under a tree, feeling defeated. He thought about giving up. - Maybe I should just go home, he muttered. Perch gently nudged him. - Don't lose hope, my friend. Together, we can find a way. Possum sighed but nodded, hoping for a miracle.
Suddenly, an owl swooped down from the trees. - I've seen this before, hooted the owl. - We need the help of the beavers to build a dam. Possum's eyes lit up with hope. - That could work! With the beavers' help, they could redirect the water and clear the blockage.
With renewed courage, Possum and Perch gathered the beavers and other animals. Together, they worked tirelessly to build a dam and clear the fallen trees. - We did it, Possum cheered, as water flowed freely again. The forest was saved!
