Poppy the Penguin loved her icy home. But one day, the sun shone too bright and the ice began to melt! Her home was getting too warm. Poppy knew she had to do something fast! She decided to invent a machine to make ice.

Poppy gathered her tools and got to work. She had a plan to make a fantastic ice machine. But oh no! She realized she was missing an important part. - I need a big, shiny gear! Poppy said.

Poppy waddled to the tool shed. She looked high and low for a shiny gear. But the shed was empty! - Where could it be? Poppy wondered. She felt a little worried.

Poppy asked her friend, Benny the Bear, for help. - Have you seen my gear? Poppy asked. - No, but I can help you look, Benny replied. They searched all afternoon, but no gear.

The next day, Poppy tried to make the gear herself. She found some old tin cans. But the cans were too weak and bent easily. - This isn’t working! Poppy sighed.

Poppy felt sad. She sat on the ice, thinking. - Maybe I should stop, she thought. The sun was still hot, and the ice was melting more.

Just then, Grandma Penguin waddled over. - Don't give up, Poppy! Grandma said. - You can do it with a little more thinking! Poppy smiled and felt better.

Poppy had an idea! She could use her old bicycle as a gear. She quickly ran to fetch it. - I think this will work, she cheered. Poppy felt excited again!

Poppy worked all night. At last, her ice machine was ready! She flipped the switch, and it started to hum. Ice began to form! - Hooray! Poppy cheered.

The ice machine worked perfectly. Poppy saved her home and kept everyone cool. - Thank you, Poppy! her friends cheered. Poppy learned that courage and not giving up were important.
