Pumpkin Season on the Farm
Bernie, a brave two-year-old pumpkin, faces a big problem on the farm. With courage, he must save the other vegetables from a terrible fate.
It was a beautiful autumn day on the farm in England. Bernie, a little orange pumpkin, lived happily with the other vegetables. One morning, Bernie heard the farmer say, 'Tonight, we will pick all the pumpkins!' Bernie knew he had to save his friends.
Bernie rolled over to his best friend, Carrot. 'We have to hide!' Bernie said. 'But where?' Carrot asked. Bernie looked around but couldn't find a good hiding spot. The first obstacle was finding a safe place.
Bernie and Carrot tried hiding in the barn, but the farmer's dog found them. 'Woof! Woof!' barked the dog. They quickly rolled away. Next, they tried hiding under a pile of hay, but the chickens started clucking loudly.
Bernie felt sad and tired. 'We will never find a safe place,' he said. Carrot sighed, 'Maybe we should give up.' Bernie sat down and thought hard. He didn't want to give up, but he felt lost.
Just then, Bernie saw a wise old scarecrow. 'You look troubled,' said the scarecrow. 'We need to save the pumpkins,' Bernie said. The scarecrow smiled, 'You can hide in the cornfield. The tall stalks will protect you.'
Bernie and Carrot quickly rolled to the cornfield. The tall stalks hid them well. 'We did it!' Bernie cheered. That night, all the pumpkins were safe. Bernie learned that with courage, he could face any challenge.
