Rivey, a little girl with sparkling blue eyes, anxiously waited for Santa to fly in the night skies. She loved Christmas Eve and wanted to see Santa's sleigh. But there was a problem! Santa always came when she was asleep. "I must stay awake this time!" she declared.
On the first night, Rivey tried her best to stay awake. She curled up with her teddy bear, but the warm blanket made her sleepy. "Oh no, I can't fall asleep now," she whispered. Her eyelids felt heavy, and soon she was dreaming.
The next night, Rivey was determined to last longer. She drank warm milk and counted the stars. But as the clock ticked, her eyes began to close. "I have to see Santa," she mumbled, fighting sleep. But once again, she drifted off.
Christmas Eve finally arrived, and Rivey felt like giving up. "Maybe I'll never see Santa," she sighed to her teddy bear. Her mom noticed her sad face. "Don't worry, Rivey. Sometimes surprises happen when we least expect them," she said softly.
Rivey had an idea! "I'll leave cookies and cocoa for Santa," she decided. She placed them by the fireplace and waited patiently. As midnight approached, a soft jingle filled the air. "Could it be?" she gasped with excitement.
To her amazement, Santa appeared by the fireplace! "Merry Christmas, dear Rivey," he greeted warmly. Rivey offered him cookies, and her heart filled with joy. Santa gave her a special gift and winked. "See you next year!" he said, before flying off into the night.
