Under the scorching sun and through the swirling sand, they marched bravely on. Schnabbi ran close beside Karim, sniffing the ground as though searching for the right path. They walked for days, and their water supplies grew low. But just before Karim was about to give up, Schnabbi began to chirp excitedly and dig. “Did you find something, Schnabbi?” Karim knelt down and started digging. Soon he felt damp sand beneath his fingers. Water! A small stream was seeping from the ground. Karim and Schnabbi jumped up and down with joy and drank eagerly from the cool spring. Karim quickly filled his bottles and marked the spot so he could show the villagers the way. Back in the village, Karim and Schnabbi were welcomed as heroes. Thanks to their discovery, the village would have enough water during the dry summer months. The villagers even built a small basin for Schnabbi, where he could splash around to his heart's content. Karim and Schnabbi remained best friends and continued to explore the wonders of the desert.
