Saddle Up, Cowboy!
Landon dreams of becoming a cowboy but feels scared of riding his big, buckskin horse, Elliemae. Can he overcome his fear and prove his courage?
Landon always dreamed of being a cowboy. His mommy surprised him with a buckskin horse named Elliemae. But Elliemae was so big! Landon felt scared to climb into the saddle. How could he be like the cowboys in the rodeo if he couldn't even ride his horse?
Landon tried to put on a brave face. " - I can do it!" he told Elliemae, patting her nose. But as he reached for the saddle, his hands shook. " - What if I fall?" he whispered. He backed away, feeling smaller than ever.
The next day, Landon decided to try again. " - Today is the day!" he said, more to himself than Elliemae. But just as he was about to climb up, a loud noise startled him. He stumbled back, feeling defeated. Would he ever ride like the cowboys?
Landon's best friend, Jake, came over to play. " - You can do it, Landon!" Jake cheered. But when Landon tried again, an unexpected gust of wind blew his cowboy hat away. He wanted to cry. " - Maybe I'm just not brave enough," he thought.
Despite his fears, Landon tried once more. " - I can't give up now," he told himself. But when Elliemae shook her head, he lost his balance. He felt embarrassed and hopeless. " - Why is this so hard?" he mumbled.
Landon sat on the porch, his chin in his hands. " - I can't do it," he sighed. " - Don't give up," his mommy said, sitting beside him. " - Cowboys have courage, and you have it too." Landon wanted to believe her, but his heart felt heavy.
That night, Landon had a dream. He was at a rodeo, riding Elliemae with confidence. " - I can do this!" he shouted in his sleep. When he woke up, he felt different. Maybe he could be brave after all.
The next morning, Landon woke up determined. " - Today, I'll be brave," he declared. With Elliemae by his side, he took a deep breath. " - We can do this," he whispered. His heart pounded, but he felt a spark of courage.
With newfound courage, Landon climbed onto Elliemae's back. " - We did it!" he cheered, holding the reins tightly. Elliemae trotted forward, and Landon felt like he was flying. He was finally a cowboy, just like he always dreamed.
