A courageous young surfer named Sonny loves riding the waves at the Jersey Shore. One day, he learns about a surfing competition that could help a local animal shelter. " - I want to win and help all the puppies and kittens!" Sonny exclaimed. But there was a big problem. Sonny had never won a competition before.
On the day of the competition, Sonny ran into his first obstacle. His surfboard had a crack! " - How will I surf with this?" Sonny worried. He tried to fix it with tape, but it didn't hold. As the other surfers laughed, Sonny felt a bit embarrassed.
Sonny decided to borrow his friend's board. But the board was too big for him! " - I can't reach the edges!" Sonny cried. It was hard to balance, and he kept falling into the water. " - I'll never be able to help the animals," Sonny sighed.
After trying so hard, Sonny felt like giving up. " - Maybe I'm just not meant to win," he thought sadly. He sat on the beach, watching the other surfers. " - I wanted to help, but I can't do it," Sonny whispered.

With his board fixed, Sonny paddled out with new confidence. He caught a big wave and rode it perfectly. " - I did it!" Sonny cheered. At the end of the day, Sonny won the competition and helped the shelter. " - Thank you, Uncle Joe!" Sonny beamed.
