Join Wessy and his brave dog Otis as they embark on a thrilling journey to find Wessy's missing toy car. Along the way, they face obstacles that test their courage, forcing Wessy to confront his fear of the dark and find out he's braver than he ever imagined.

This is Wessy. He loves a lot of things like horses, he dinosaurs, his mom and dad, his little brother, Adam, and he his best friend, Otis. Otis is Wessy's dog. They've been best friends for Wessy's whole life. Wessy has a lot of toys he loves, too. His favorite is a black and white race car that drives really fast, and it's much better than his other cars. All the doors open, the wheels spin fast, and its made of strong metal. When Wessy pushes it across the floor it goes in a straight line. His other cars all drift to the side. But, Wessy also has a problem today. He can't find his favorite toy race car. Where could it be?

Wessy woke up early today, excited to play with his toys. When he got dressed, brushed his teeth, and put on his cowboy hat he was ready to play, but when he tried to find his favorite race car, he couldn't find it! He looked around his room and said, "Otis, do you know where my car is?" Otis barked twice and ran in a circle. He didn't know where it was. "Maybe it's under my bed, but it's dark under there and I'm a little scared. Will you check?" Otis barked and ran under Wessy's bed. The car wasn't there. Wessy frowned and said, "Hmm. Let's keep looking, it has to be here somewhere."

Next, they looked in the bathroom. Did Wessy leave it in the tub last night? Otis jumped inside the tub and used his strong nose to sift through Wessy's toys. He found a toy horse, his big toy truck, and a green dinosaur, but those weren't what he was looking for. Then, Wessy said to Otis, "Otis, will you check in the closet? It's dark in the back and I get a little scared. Otis barked, jumped out of the tub, and went into the closet. A moment later Otis came back out with a sad look on his face, and no toy car.

Suddenly, Otis started barking and ran toward the back door, looking at Wessy to follow him. Wessy did follow him, walking right past his mom in the kitchen. Otis kept barking until Wessy followed him. Once outside, Otis led Wessy to the garage door. Wessy smiled. "Good idea!" he said. Otis barked. Wessy put his hand on his cowboy hat and they headed inside the garage. Once they walked in Wessy got a little scared. It was dark in there, but he took a deep breath and told himself to be brave. He had to be brave to find his car!

Wessy and Otis looked under the truck, in the boxes, and next to the car. It was nowhere to be found. Wessy slumped his shoulders and walked toward the door. "Let's go", he said. They walked outside. "Where else did we go yesterday?" Wessy asked. Otis barked and jumped. Wessy looked at him. "The sandbox!" he yelled. They both took ran across the yard to the sandbox. They dug through the sand, looked in the buckets, checked under the shovels, and looked in the tunnel they built yesterday. His car was nowhere to be found. "My car is gone forever", Wessy said. Otis whined.

Just then Wessy's stomach growled. He was hungry! "Let's go get some food," he said to Otis. Together they walked slowly back to the house. Wessy's mom was in the kitchen. "Hi!," she said. "Hi," Wessy said in a sad voice. "I can't find my favorite car," he said. "We looked everywhere. It's lost forever," he said. "I doubt it's lost forever," his mom said. "How about you eat a sandwich and you'll feel better." Wessy nodded and he and Otis walked to the table and sat down together to eat. A moment later Wessy yelled, "I know where it is!" Otis barked excitedly. Wessy jumped up and started to run.

Otis followed him. They went through the kitchen, past his bedroom, past the bathroom, past the door to the garage and sandbox. They ran straight to the front window where Wessy loved to drive his cars back and forth. Wessy pulled the curtain aside and there, behind the curtain, in the exact spot Wessy left it yesterday, was his favorite black and white race car! "I found it!" Wessy yelled. Otis barked and ran in circles. "WE found it!" Wessy hugged Otis tightly. "Thank you for helping me, Otis!" Otis licked his face.

Later, while his dad was tucking him into bed, Wessy told him all about searching for his car. "It wasn't under my bed, it wasn't in the bathtub or the closet, it wasn't in the garage, and it wasn't in the sand box. I was a little scared looking sometimes. It was a little dark in some places." His dad agreed. Wessy continued, "Then I remembered I was driving it in the window when Nana came over, so I ran really fast to the window and there it was!" he exclaimed. He held his car up for his dad to see. Otis helped. He helped me be brave in the dark. He's a really brave boy, and so am I."
