Benny tried hopping over a small rock first. But he slipped and fell. - Oh no, Benny cried. His friend Timmy the turtle chuckled. - It's okay, Benny. Try again, Timmy said. Benny felt even more scared now.
Benny watched as other bunnies hopped over the puddle with ease. He wanted to be brave like them. - I wish I could hop like that, Benny sighed. His heart felt heavy. But every time he tried, his legs wouldn't budge.
Benny asked his friend, Lila the chick, for help. - I can't do it, Benny said sadly. Lila chirped back. - You can! Just take it slow, Lila suggested. Benny tried again, but the puddle seemed bigger than ever. Benny wanted to give up.

Just when Benny was about to give up, Grandpa Rabbit hopped over. - What's the matter, Benny? Grandpa asked. Benny told him about the puddle. Grandpa smiled. - Sometimes, courage is taking one small step at a time, he said. Benny listened closely.
Benny thought about Grandpa's words. He took a deep breath. - I can try one step, Benny said to himself. He inched closer to the puddle. His heart was still pounding, but he was ready to try again.
With his friends cheering him on, Benny took a tiny hop. Then another. - I'm doing it! Benny exclaimed. The puddle didn't seem so big now. Benny felt a warm feeling inside.
Benny finally made it across the puddle. - I did it! Benny shouted with joy. His friends clapped and cheered. Benny smiled proudly. He felt brave and happy.
