The Dream Snake

Charity Pixar style

Brett, a young boy who often makes selfish choices, is visited by the mystical Dream Snake who steals his sweet dreams. With the help of his Grandma and a magical dream catcher, Brett learns the value of making good choices and the importance of charity.

Brett was a 6-year-old boy who sometimes made bad choices. He didn't listen to his teacher, didn't share his toys with his sister, and hated eating vegetables. One night, after not eating his broccoli, he went to bed mad. His mom tucked him in and said, - Good night, and have sweet dreams. But Brett only had bad dreams about homework monsters, toy smash monsters, and scary vegetable monsters.

Brett could never remember his good dreams, only the scary ones. One night, his mom had to work the night shift, so Brett and his sister had a sleepover at Grandma's house. Brett loved going to Grandma's because she let him have chocolate bars even if he didn't eat his vegetables. At bedtime, Grandma tucked him in and said, - Good night, and have sweet dreams.

- But I don’t ever have sweet dreams, only bad ones! Brett told Grandma, sounding worried. Grandma looked confused and asked, - Why don’t you remember your sweet dreams? Brett explained that he could only remember the bad ones. Grandma smiled and said, - I know why. You were visited by the Dream Snake.

- Dream Snake? Brett asked, his eyes wide. Grandma explained, - The Dream Snake is a magical creature that visits in the middle of the night. It crawls into your ear while you sleep and watches your dreams. When it sees a sweet dream, it gobbles it up and flies away. That’s why you don’t remember it.

Brett looked at Grandma like she was a little crazy. Grandma laughed and walked out, returning with a weird spider-web-looking thing. - What is that?! Brett asked. - It's a special dream catcher, Grandma said. It will catch the Dream Snake if he tries to steal your sweet dreams. Grandma hung the dream catcher over the window and said, - Have sweet dreams.

Once Brett fell asleep, he had the sweetest dream about a land made of candy and chocolate bars. That’s when the Dream Snake came to visit. The Dream Snake saw the delicious candy land and ate the whole thing! The Dream Snake’s belly got super fat like he swallowed a giant watermelon. When the Dream Snake tried to fly away, his fat belly got stuck in the dream catcher.

The sound of the Dream Snake struggling woke Brett up. He saw the Dream Snake and got very mad. - Why do you eat my sweet dreams?! Brett yelled. The Dream Snake was scared and started to cry. - I know! He said. - Sweet dreams are SOOOO delicious and make my scales and wings beautiful. Bad dreams are YUCK and make me look dull and ugly.

The Dream Snake said he was sorry and offered a deal. - If you let me go, I will eat your bad dreams tomorrow and tell you the secret to having lots and lots of sweet dreams. Brett thought about it and said, - DEAL. He let the Dream Snake out of the dream catcher. The Dream Snake smiled and said, - The secret to having good dreams is... Good Choices.

- REALLY? Brett asked, eyes wide. - Yep, said the Dream Snake. - Tomorrow, make as many good choices as possible, and I will return at night to eat only your bad dreams. Brett nodded excitedly and went back to sleep. The Dream Snake flew away into the night.

The next day at school, Brett listened to EVERYTHING his teacher said. He even got an A+ on his schoolwork. When he got home, he let his sister play with him and all his toys. They had so much fun together. At dinner, Brett closed his nose and ate his broccoli. - It’s actually tasty! He exclaimed.

Brett's mom was so happy and had a special surprise. - Your grandma gave me extra chocolate bars, and since you ate your vegetables, you can have one, she said. Brett was overjoyed and went to bed happy about all the good choices he made. His mom tucked him in and said, - Good night and sweet dreams.

When Brett fell asleep, he had so many sweet dreams about being a superhero, surfing at the beach, and eating sweets in candy land. But then, the Vegetable Monster appeared. Brett got scared, thinking he was about to have another bad dream. Just then, the Dream Snake came and gobbled up the Vegetable Monster!

Brett was happy the bad dream was gone but noticed the Dream Snake’s bright colors fade away. The Dream Snake turned white, black, and gray. - Thank you for eating my bad dream, Brett said. - I’m sorry you lost your pretty colors. - Deal is a deal, replied the Dream Snake with a tear in his eye.

- WAIT! Brett yelled. - I just thought of another good choice. The Dream Snake stopped and asked, - And what is that? - I have so MANY sweet dreams now… we should share them! Brett handed the Dream Snake a special treat chocolate bar. The Dream Snake gobbled it up and regained its beautiful colors.

The Dream Snake thanked Brett and said he would see him tomorrow night. Brett fell back asleep as the Dream Snake left his sweet dreams. The Dream Snake went to fly out of the window but stopped and came back to Brett’s bed. - Thank you for teaching me how to make good choices too, said the Dream Snake. With his little forked tongue, he kissed Brett on the cheek and said, - Good night and sweet dreams.

Brett woke up the next morning feeling happy and refreshed. He remembered all his sweet dreams and the lesson he learned. From that day on, Brett tried his best to make good choices. He listened to his teacher, shared his toys, and even ate his vegetables. And every night, the Dream Snake returned to eat his bad dreams, leaving only sweet ones behind. Brett learned that being kind and making good choices not only made him happy but also made others happy too.
