The Firefly's Secret
Emma, a cheerful four-year-old, feels left out after the arrival of her baby sister. A magical firefly helps her understand the importance of her new role as a big sister.
Emma loved playing in the garden. One day, her parents told her that she would have a little sister soon. Emma was very excited! But when her baby sister arrived, her parents were always busy. Emma felt sad and left out. She didn't know what to do.
Emma tried to play with her parents, but they were always busy taking care of the baby. She felt lonely and sat down in the garden. Suddenly, a tiny firefly flew close to her. Emma had never seen a firefly talk before.
- Why are you sad, Emma? asked the firefly. - My parents are always busy with the baby, Emma replied. - I feel like they don't have time for me anymore. The firefly thought for a moment. - Come with me, it said.
The firefly led Emma through the garden, showing her all the flowers and plants. - Even though I'm small, I have an important job, it said. - I help the flowers grow by lighting up the night. - But I'm not small or special, Emma sighed. - You are special, Emma, the firefly insisted.
- You have a special role too, the firefly said. - You can help your parents and show love to your baby sister. Emma thought about what the firefly said. She realized that being a big sister was an important job. - I'll try my best, she said with a smile.
Emma started helping her parents with the baby. She played gentle games and showed her sister the garden. Her parents were very happy and proud of her. Emma felt loved and important again. She knew she had found her special role.
