In the dusty town of Copper Canyon, everyone chatted excitedly about the amazing Golden Lasso. It was said to give super bravery to anyone who had it. Eleven-year-old Cody, sporting his short brown hair and a fun cowboy hat, had a big dream of discovering it. One sunny day, he accidentally heard some exciting news that the lasso was tucked away in the old mine! He thought it was the perfect moment to start the most exciting journey ever!
Cody's super awesome friend Lucy tried to give him a heads-up about the tricky stuff out there. The spooky old mine is filled with ghosts! She shouted excitedly. I really need to do this, Lucy, Cody said. I want to show how brave I can be! Taking a big breath, Cody walked up to the entrance of the mine, feeling both excited and a little scared.
As Cody stepped into the mine, the first challenge he encountered was a tight, shadowy tunnel. He could hardly see anything at all! I really wish I had a flashlight, Cody said quietly to himself. All of a sudden, he heard a funny rustling sound and stopped in his tracks. Who's that knocking? He shouted happily, his voice bouncing around.
Bats zoomed by Cody, making him leap in surprise! It's just bats, he said with a big smile. But the further he ventured, the more he began to hear funny sounds. Cody wondered if this was a silly choice. He kept going, excited to discover the magical Golden Lasso. I can't go back now, he said softly.
Out of nowhere, Cody tripped over a big rock that was in his way! How can I get this to move? He thought out loud. He pushed with all his strength, but it just wouldn't move. I won't give up, Cody said to himself. He searched for a different path to take.
Cody spotted a tiny space next to the big rock and wiggled his way through! As he wriggled through the opening, his shirt snagged on a rusty nail. Oh no, Cody whined, pulling at his shirt. He finally got free, but his shirt got ripped in the adventure! He let out a big sigh, hoping it would all be worth it in the end!
As Cody ventured deeper into the mine, he came across a big, deep gap with a shaky wooden bridge stretching across it. Cody felt a little worried about how safe this seemed. He took careful steps onto the bridge, feeling it wiggle a little under his feet. Just keep your eyes up, he reminded himself. Halfway across, a plank went crack under his foot!
Cody made a super cool jump to the other side just in time! Wow, that was really close! He was out of breath. But his happy moment didn't last long when he heard a growl behind him. What should we do next? Cody spun around and spotted a pair of bright, twinkling eyes peeking out from the shadows. Step away, please! He yelled, putting on a brave face.
A playful wolf bounded into the light, growling at Cody in a friendly way. Cody knew he had to come up with a quick idea! He saw a stick close by and grabbed it with excitement. Stay back! he shouted, swinging the stick around playfully. The wolf paused for a moment, then slowly stepped back. Wow, that was really spooky, Cody said quietly.
Cody felt really tired and a little scared, so he decided to take a break and sit down for a while. Perhaps Lucy had a point, he pondered. This place is not safe at all! He felt a big splash of uncertainty wash over him. I can't do this, Cody said, his eyes starting to fill with tears. I don't feel very brave.
