Once upon a time, in a happy town, there were four friends - Lily, Alex, Maya, and Max. They loved being kind to everyone, no matter who they were. One day, they saw a new student named Sam being teased because he looked different. The friends felt sad and decided they had to do something about it. They wanted to make Sam feel welcome and happy in his new school.
- We need to help Sam, Lily said. - But how? asked Alex. They decided to talk to the kids who were teasing Sam. But when they did, the kids just laughed and walked away. The friends felt discouraged. They realized that this wouldn't be as easy as they thought.
The next day, the friends tried to include Sam in their games. But some of the other kids refused to play if Sam was included. - This is so unfair, said Maya. - What do we do now? asked Max. They decided to talk to their teacher, hoping she could help. But the teacher was busy and didn't have time to listen.
Feeling defeated, the friends sat under their favorite tree. - Maybe we should just give up, said Alex. - No, we can't give up, said Lily. - But nothing we do is working, said Max. They all felt sad and didn't know what to do next. It seemed like they might have to give up after all.
Just then, an older student named Jake came by. - Why do you all look so sad? he asked. They explained the situation to Jake. - I've been in Sam's shoes before, Jake said. - What worked for me was being honest and talking to everyone about how I felt. The friends realized that honesty might be the key to solving their problem.
The next day, the friends gathered all the students in the playground. - We need to talk to you all, said Lily. - It's not right to tease someone just because they look different, said Maya. - Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness, said Max. The other students listened and agreed. From that day on, Sam was welcomed and no one teased him again. The Neighborhood Kind Crew had made a big difference.
