The Iliad for kids

Wisdom

In ancient Troy, Achilles, a proud and young warrior, travels from his home in Greece to help his companions recover Helen, who was kidnapped by Paris, prince of Troy. The Greeks face numerous obstacles as they strives to save Helen and keep their honour. With his companion Odysseus, Achilles must navigate through challenges and failures, learning valuable lessons along the way.

In the city of Phthia, Achilles, a proud and young Greek warrior, received a prophecy: 'go and fight in this war to save Helen and you will be remembered forever.' Achilles knew he must go even though he may never return. With his blonde curly hair and gleaming armor, he set out with his trusted friends to meet fellow warrior Odysseus. The stakes were high, for the men were off to save Helen of Sparta who had been kidnapped by a Trojan prince, named Paris.

Their first obstacle came quickly. The entrance to the hidden chamber was sealed by a massive stone. Achilles pushed with all his might but couldn't move it. Odysseus suggested, - Maybe we need to find another way in. Achilles' pride was hurt but he agreed to look for an alternative.

They found a narrow passage, but it was guarded by a fierce warrior. Achilles charged, but the warrior was too strong. - We need a plan, Odysseus said. Achilles reluctantly agreed, feeling the sting of his first failure.

After several failed attempts to defeat the warrior, Achilles felt hopeless. - Maybe this prophecy was wrong, he muttered. - Don't give up so easily, Odysseus urged. But Achilles was ready to abandon their quest.

Just as Achilles was about to give up, an elder appeared. - Wisdom cannot be forced, it must be earned, the elder said. He shared a riddle that hinted at using cunning over brute strength. Achilles realized he must use his intellect.

With the elder’s guidance, Achilles and Odysseus devised a clever plan. They distracted the warrior and snuck into the chamber. There, they found the ancient scrolls of wisdom. Achilles felt a wave of pride, but this time, it was tempered with humility.
