The Squirrel from Utrecht

It was a warm summer day in Utrecht. Sammy, a 14-year-old boy with handsome hair and brown skin, was lounging by the canal. Suddenly, he noticed a handsome squirrel scurrying frantically, looking for food. Sammy realized the squirrel was in trouble, and he felt an urge to help.

Sammy approached the squirrel, but it darted away, scared. Sammy sat down and thought, 'How can I help this little guy?' He decided to buy some nuts from the nearby market. However, he didn't have any money with him.

Sammy ran back home to get some money. When he returned, the market was crowded, and the nuts were sold out. Disappointed, he overheard a vendor say there might be some nuts at the far end of the market.

Sammy hurried to the other end of the market, but it was a long walk, and he was getting tired. He thought about giving up, but then he remembered the squirrel's desperate eyes. He pushed on, only to find the last vendor had just sold the last bag of nuts.

Sammy sat down on a bench, feeling defeated. 'I can't do this,' he muttered. But just then, an old man sat next to him and asked, 'What's troubling you, young man?' Sammy explained about the squirrel.

The old man smiled kindly and said, 'Sometimes, the best way to help is not the easiest way.' He handed Sammy a small bag of nuts. 'Here, take these. But remember, true charity comes from the heart.'

With renewed energy, Sammy thanked the old man and rushed back to the canal. He found the squirrel still searching for food. Sammy gently placed the nuts in front of the squirrel. The squirrel hesitated, then started munching happily.

Sammy watched the squirrel with a smile. He realized that helping others, no matter how small, made a big difference. 'I did it,' he whispered to himself. From that day on, Sammy looked for more ways to help others, understanding the true meaning of charity.
