Once upon a time, in a sunny meadow nestled between tall, green hills, there was a little sunflower named Sunny. Sunny was the smallest flower in the meadow, with petals that weren’t as wide and a stem that wasn’t as tall. The other sunflowers often teased Sunny. - You'll never be as tall as us, one said. - You can't even reach the sun properly, another giggled. Sunny felt sad and tried harder each day to grow taller.
Sunny tried everything, stretching her leaves and bending her stem towards the sun. - I just want to be like the others, Sunny sighed. But no matter how hard Sunny tried, she just couldn't grow as tall. One day, a gust of wind passed through the meadow, gently pushing the taller sunflowers aside. Sunny held her ground but felt even smaller than before.
The next morning, Sunny noticed her shadow was much smaller than the other sunflowers'. - I wish I were taller, she whispered to herself. As days passed, she saw bees buzzing past her to visit the taller flowers. - Why don't they like me? Sunny wondered aloud. Each day without a visit made Sunny feel less important.
Feeling lonely and defeated, Sunny thought about giving up on growing taller. - Maybe I should just accept being the smallest, she sighed. She hung her head low, hiding her face behind her leaves. - What if I'm never enough? Sunny pondered, feeling the weight of the world on her small petals. Her dreams of reaching the sun seemed impossible.
Just then, a wise old ladybug landed on Sunny’s leaf. - Why so glum? asked the ladybug.
