The Treasure of Advice

Courage Digital art style

Sara, a mischievous 14-year-old girl in a small village, never listens to her mother's advice. As she grows up and becomes a mother herself, she realizes the importance of her mother’s wisdom and the courage it takes to follow it. This is a story about the journey of understanding and the courage to change.

Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a mischievous girl named Sara. She loved to play outside and often ignored her mother’s advice. Her mother would say, - Sara, do this and that, it will be good for you in the future. But Sara would respond, - I don’t want to now, I just want to play! Little did she know, her carefree attitude would soon lead her to a big problem.

One day, Sara’s mother fell ill and couldn’t take care of the household chores. - Sara, I need your help, her mother said weakly. Sara felt overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start. - I wish I'd listened to you, mother, she said softly. The house was in disarray, and Sara realized she had to step up.

Sara decided to clean the house, but she had never paid attention to how her mother did it. She tried sweeping the floor but ended up making more of a mess. - Why is this so hard? she exclaimed in frustration. - Cleaning is more than just moving dirt around, her mother advised. Sara began to understand the depth of her mother's wisdom.

Next, Sara attempted to cook a meal, but she didn’t know any recipes. She burnt the food and filled the kitchen with smoke. - I can't do this! she cried. - Take your time, and remember what I taught you, her mother said gently. Sara felt a pang of regret for not paying attention before.

Sara’s younger siblings were hungry and crying, adding to her stress. - Please be quiet, I’m trying my best! she pleaded. Her siblings didn’t understand and continued to cry. - I don’t know how mother managed all this, she thought, feeling more defeated. The weight of responsibility was heavy on her young shoulders.

As days went by, Sara found herself struggling more and more. The house remained in chaos, and her mother’s condition wasn’t improving. - Maybe I’ll never get it right, she thought miserably. She felt like giving up, the burden too much to bear. - I can't do this alone, she whispered to herself.

One evening, Sara sat by her mother’s bedside, tears in her eyes. - Mother, how did you do it all? she asked. Her mother smiled weakly. - With patience and love, my dear. Remember, it's okay to ask for help. Sara felt a spark of hope. Maybe she could find a way to manage after all.

Sara decided to visit the village elder, a wise woman known for her good advice. - I need help, she admitted. The elder listened and then said, - Your mother has taught you much, but you never realized it. Look within yourself. Sara pondered these words, feeling a new sense of determination.

Sara returned home with renewed courage. She asked her neighbors for help and they gladly assisted her. - Thank you, everyone, she said gratefully. With their help, she cleaned the house and prepared a warm meal for her family. For the first time, she felt a sense of accomplishment.

Sara’s mother began to recover, and she was proud of her daughter’s efforts. - You’ve done well, Sara, she said. - I finally understand your advice, mother, and I’ll always cherish it, Sara replied. Together, they maintained a tidy home and took care of each other. Sara had learned the true treasure of her mother’s advice.
