Toni Tomatoe lived in a busy produce store in New York City. He was bright red with a green stem on his head. One day, Toni woke up to find his green stem missing! Toni felt scared without his stem. He knew he needed to find it to feel brave again.
Toni searched all over the store but couldn't find his stem. He asked his friend, Bella Banana, for help. - Have you seen my green stem? Toni asked. - No, but I can help you look, Bella replied. They set off to find the missing stem together.
They checked the fruit section first. - Maybe it's here, Bella suggested. But they only found apples and oranges. Toni started to feel a bit sad. - We'll find it, don't worry, Bella said.
Next, they went to the vegetable section. Toni saw carrots and cucumbers. But his stem was nowhere to be found. - It's not here either, Toni sighed. - Let's keep looking, Bella encouraged.
They even looked near the checkout counter. - Maybe someone took it by mistake, Toni wondered. But all they saw were shopping bags and a busy cashier. Toni felt like crying. - We'll find it, Bella said, trying to cheer him up.
Toni and Bella went to the storage room. It was dark and a bit scary. - What if we don't find it? Toni asked, his voice trembling. - We have to be brave, Bella said. They searched every corner but found nothing.
Toni was really tired and sad. - I don't think we'll ever find it, he said. - Don't give up, Bella insisted. But Toni felt hopeless. - Maybe I should just stay here, Toni said. - No, we must keep going, Bella urged.
Toni sat down and felt like giving up. - I can't do it, he said. - Yes, you can, Bella replied. - But I feel so scared without my stem, Toni confessed. - You are brave, even without it, Bella said. Toni thought about Bella's words.
Suddenly, they heard a noise. It was Mr. Pineapple, the store manager. - What's wrong, Toni? he asked. - I lost my green stem, Toni explained. - I think I saw a green stem near the lettuce, Mr. Pineapple said. Toni's eyes lit up.
Toni and Bella rushed to the lettuce section. There, among the green leaves, was Toni's stem! - We found it! Toni exclaimed. - I knew you could do it, Bella cheered. Toni put his stem back on and felt brave again. - Thank you, Bella, he said. - Anytime, Toni, Bella replied.
