Ted and Lucy took the book to Professor Hoot, an old owl who knew many languages. But Professor Hoot was out of town for a week. Ted sighed heavily.
They returned home and spread the map on the table. Lucy and Ted tried to guess the meanings of some symbols. They made some progress, but the map still seemed like a puzzle. Ted felt his courage slipping away.
