In the magical kingdom of Alethia, young Promise wishes to change her appearance to have red hair and freckles like she admires. However, her journey reveals the true gifts of wisdom and self-acceptance as she learns the beauty of her unique self and the preciousness of family.
Promise lived in Alethia, a kingdom full of light and magic. She adored the kind King and often talked to him. One day, she told him she wished she had red hair and freckles. The King smiled and said, - You are perfect as you are, dear Promise. Promise was puzzled. Why couldn't she change?
Promise tried to change herself. - I'll eat lots of bread crusts, she said, hoping it would give her red hair and freckles. She munched on crusts every day but nothing happened. Her hair remained black and her skin tan. It made her feel sad.
Promise's attempts only made her more frustrated. She tried wearing hats to hide her hair. She even painted little freckles on her cheeks. But they washed away in the rain. - Why can't I look different? she wondered as she looked at her reflection.
Feeling defeated, Promise sat by the river. She thought about giving up her dream. - Maybe I should just be happy as I am, she sighed. But deep down, she still wished for a change. It felt like a big storm cloud was over her heart.
