The next day, Miss Nancy gave them their first English words to learn. Omar tried to say 'apple' but it sounded funny. ' - I can't say it right!' he cried. Ahmad couldn't remember the word for 'cat.' ' - This is too hard,' he said. Miss Nancy encouraged them, ' - Keep trying, it will get easier.'
Miss Nancy introduced a new game to help them learn. They had to find objects in the classroom and say their names in English. Omar found a book but forgot the word. ' - I can't remember!' he said. Ahmad found a pen but said 'pin' instead. ' - We keep getting it wrong,' Ahmad sighed.
Days passed, and Omar felt like giving up. ' - I will never get it right,' he told Ahmad. ' - Maybe we should stop trying,' Ahmad agreed. They sat quietly during English class, feeling sad. Miss Nancy noticed and asked, ' - What’s wrong, boys?' Omar replied, ' - We can't learn English. It's too hard.'
Miss Nancy sat down with them. ' - Learning something new is always hard at first,' she said. ' - But you are brave and smart!' She showed them a picture book with easy English words. ' - Let's try again, together,' she encouraged. Omar and Ahmad looked at each other and nodded. ' - Okay, we'll try.'
Omar and Ahmad practiced with the picture book every day. They started to remember the words and say them correctly. ' - We did it!' Omar cheered one day. Ahmad smiled, ' - We can learn English after all!' Miss Nancy clapped, ' - I knew you could do it!' They felt proud and ready for more challenges.
