One day, Chuck pushed Ollie on the playground and said, "Stay away, you street rat" Ollie just wanted to be friends, but it seemed impossible. His little sister, Lola, watched and asked, " - Why is he so mean?" Ollie shrugged, feeling helpless. All he wanted was to be accepted and have a friend.
At home, Ollie and Lola helped their mom, Miss Smith, in their small apartment. They didn't have much, but they had each other. At school, Chuck kept making fun of them, saying, " - Look at their clothes!" Ollie tried to ignore it, but it was hard. " - I don't know what to do," Ollie sighed to Lola.
Feeling overwhelmed, Ollie thought about giving up on making friends. " - Maybe I should just stay alone," he mumbled. Lola hugged him and said, " - You have me, Ollie!" Even though he was thankful for Lola, Ollie still felt lonely. He thought, " - Why can't we have friends too?"
One day, a girl named Charley saw Chuck bullying Ollie. She stood up to Chuck and said, " - That's not nice! Everyone deserves kindness!" Charley took Ollie's hand and smiled, " - Let's be friends." Ollie felt a spark of hope. " - Thank you, Charley," he said, feeling grateful.
With Charley's help, Ollie learned to ignore Chuck's mean words. Charley told everyone, " - You never know what someone is going through." Slowly, more kids started talking to Ollie and Lola. Ollie realized kindness could change everything. " - I'm glad we're friends," he said to Charley with a big smile.
