In the summertime woods of Seafield, Germany, young Ben faces a dilemma when he loses something precious. His adventure teaches him the value of honesty.
In the small city of Seafield, Germany, lived a six-year-old boy named Ben. Ben loved playing in the woods near his home, especially in summer. One sunny day, Ben found an old wooden box under a tree. Inside the box was a shiny, golden key. Ben was excited but also worried. What should he do with the mysterious key?
Ben decided to show the key to his best friend, Elsa. But as they walked home, a squirrel grabbed the key and ran up a tall tree. Ben tried to climb the tree but couldn't reach the squirrel. He felt sad and helpless. Elsa tried to cheer him up but Ben was really worried.
The next day, Ben and Elsa went back to the woods. This time, they brought some nuts to lure the squirrel down. But a strong wind blew, scattering the nuts everywhere. Ben's eyes filled with tears. He thought they would never get the key back. Elsa hugged him and said they should keep trying.
After many failed attempts, Ben felt like giving up. He sat on a log and sighed. Elsa sat next to him. - What if we never get the key back? Ben asked. - We can't give up now, Elsa replied. - But it feels hopeless, Ben said. They decided to go home and think of a new plan.
At home, Ben's grandpa noticed he was upset. - What's wrong, Ben? he asked. Ben explained everything. - Sometimes, honesty is the best key, said Grandpa. Ben and Elsa realized they should tell the forest ranger about the key. Maybe he would know who it belonged to and how to get it back.
The next day, Ben and Elsa found the forest ranger. - We found a key, but a squirrel took it, Ben explained. The ranger smiled and helped them get the key down with a long stick. - This key belongs to an old chest in the town museum, he said. Ben felt happy and proud. He had learned that being honest was the right thing to do.
