You Got This, Billy

Tolerance Pixar style

In the vibrant city of Johannesburg, Billy, a curious 10-year-old, faces a challenge that tests his tolerance and understanding. With the help of his trusty bulldog, Beef, he navigates a journey full of obstacles, learning valuable lessons along the way.

The next day, Billy organized a 'Get to Know Tumi' day at school. He shared fun facts about Tumi’s culture and encouraged everyone to ask questions. Slowly, the other kids started to see Tumi in a new light. Tumi smiled, and Billy knew they had made a difference.

During recess, Billy saw Tumi sitting alone under a tree. He wanted to approach him but felt nervous. Beef, his loyal bulldog, nudged him as if to say, 'You got this, Billy.' Billy took a deep breath and walked over to Tumi.

Billy sat down next to Tumi and said, - Hi, I'm Billy. Do you want to play soccer with us? Tumi looked surprised but nodded. As they played, Billy noticed the other kids whispering and pointing at Tumi. He felt a knot in his stomach.

The next day, Billy invited Tumi to sit with him at lunch. - Thanks for inviting me, Tumi said shyly. - No problem, Billy replied. But soon, some kids started making fun of Tumi's food. Billy felt angry but didn’t know what to say.

Billy decided to invite Tumi over to his house after school. - I’d love to come, Tumi said, smiling for the first time. When they arrived, Beef greeted them excitedly. They played games and laughed, but Billy noticed Tumi was still a bit sad.

Billy asked, - Why are you still sad, Tumi? - I miss my old school and friends, Tumi admitted. Billy felt a pang of empathy. - I’m sorry, Tumi. I didn’t know. He wanted to make things better but wasn’t sure how.

The following week, Billy noticed Tumi was being bullied again. - Leave him alone! Billy shouted. But the bullies just laughed and walked away. Tumi looked grateful but still hurt. Billy felt like he was failing.

Billy felt overwhelmed and considered giving up. - Maybe I can’t help Tumi after all, he sighed to Beef. But Beef licked his face, reminding him of his strength. Billy decided he couldn't give up just yet.

That night, Billy’s mom shared a story about her own challenges fitting in. - It wasn’t easy, but I found friends who accepted me for who I am, she said. Billy realized he needed to show the other kids how to be tolerant.
