A Journey to Space by John Holland

Courage Digital art style

Rhett and his cousin Luca dream of building a rocket ship to explore space. They face many obstacles but learn the importance of courage and never giving up.

It was a bright summer day in Philadelphia. Five-year-old Rhett, with his short brown hair and blue hat, was playing in his backyard with his cousin Luca. 'Let's build a rocket ship and go to space!' Rhett exclaimed. Luca's eyes widened with excitement. But they soon realized they didn't know how to build a rocket.

Rhett and Luca looked around for materials to build their rocket. They found some cardboard boxes and old tin cans. 'This will be our rocket!' Rhett said confidently. But when they tried to put it together, the boxes kept falling apart. 'It's not working,' Luca sighed.

Determined, Rhett and Luca went to the garage to find stronger materials. They found some wooden planks and nails. 'This will work!' Rhett said. But as they hammered the planks together, Luca accidentally hurt his thumb. 'Ouch! This is too hard,' Luca cried.

Feeling defeated, Rhett and Luca sat on the grass. 'Maybe we can't build a rocket,' Rhett said sadly. Luca nodded, looking at the broken pieces. 'It's too hard,' Luca agreed. They almost decided to give up on their dream.

Just then, their neighbor Mr. Thompson walked by. 'What are you kids up to?' he asked. Rhett explained their problem. 'Building a rocket is tough, but you need courage and teamwork,' Mr. Thompson said. He showed them how to use glue and screws to make the rocket stronger.

With Mr. Thompson's help, Rhett and Luca worked together and rebuilt their rocket. It was sturdy and strong this time. 'We did it!' Rhett cheered. Luca smiled and said, 'We never gave up!' They learned that courage and teamwork can help overcome any obstacle.
