A Meeting Between the Soul (Neshama) and the Spirit (Ruach)

Wisdom Watercolor style

In a vast and beautiful abstract landscape of the mind, a curious little spirit named Ruach embarks on a journey to understand the true nature of prayer and wisdom. Guided by the calm and wise Neshama, Ruach faces several obstacles and moments of doubt before discovering a profound truth that changes everything.

In the vast, abstract landscape of the mind, a glowing white spirit named Ruach wandered restlessly. Ruach's tuft of white fire hair flickered as thoughts raced through its mind. 'Why do I have to pray if G-d already knows everything?' Ruach wondered. The question felt like a mountain, impossible to climb. 'It's useless,' Ruach sighed, feeling lost.

Ruach's frustration grew as it paced back and forth. Every answer seemed to be a dead-end. Suddenly, Ruach struck a dramatic pose and transformed into an over-the-top goody two-shoes character. ' - Everyone knows that if you pray really, really hard, G-d gives you exactly what you want!' Ruach said in a know-it-all voice. ' - Yeah, right!' Ruach mocked itself. ' - Like He’s a vending machine.'

Ruach continued its mockery, feeling even more frustrated. ' - Prayer isn’t a transaction,' came a calm voice. It was Neshama, seated quietly nearby. ' - The decree is set for who you are right now, but if you shift, the decree no longer applies,' Neshama explained with a gentle smile. ' - So I daven and what, skip to another page in some cosmic ‘choose your own adventure’ book?' Ruach asked, still sarcastic.

Neshama’s words made Ruach think. ' - It’s like a chessboard,' Neshama continued. ' - The pieces are set, but move one piece and everything changes.' Ruach was intrigued but still uncertain. ' - So tefilah isn’t changing G-d’s plan. It’s changing me?' Ruach asked slowly. ' - Yes, prayer helps you make the next move,' Neshama confirmed.

Ruach couldn't grasp the concept completely. ' - But what if I can't change?' Ruach asked, feeling a lump in its throat. ' - Everyone can change,' Neshama reassured. ' - It’s about finding the wisdom within.' Ruach felt more confused. ' - Wisdom? How do I find that?'

Ruach felt overwhelmed by the idea of finding wisdom. ' - Maybe it's just too hard,' Ruach said, considering giving up. ' - Don’t give up,' Neshama encouraged. ' - Wisdom is already inside you.' Ruach sighed deeply, feeling the weight of the problem. ' - But how do I uncover it?'

Neshama leaned closer. ' - Think of wisdom as a hidden treasure,' Neshama explained. ' - You have to dig deep within yourself to find it.' Ruach's eyes widened with realization. ' - So, I need to look inside me?' Ruach asked. ' - Yes, and prayer helps you do that,' Neshama said warmly.

Ruach felt a spark of hope. ' - So, every time I pray, I'm uncovering a bit more of my wisdom?' Ruach asked eagerly. ' - Exactly,' Neshama smiled. ' - And that changes everything.' Ruach felt a sense of determination. ' - I’ll keep praying and finding my wisdom,' Ruach declared. ' - That’s the spirit,' Neshama said, proud.
