Join Petros, a serious and somewhat grumpy ten-year-old boy with a dislike for vegetables, as he visits his grandfather's grocery store. He's about to discover a magical world where vegetables come to life and teach him the wisdom and wonders they hold. Will Petros overcome his disdain for veggies and embrace their value?
Petros was a serious ten-year-old boy who disliked all vegetables. Whenever his mom made a salad, he found excuses not to eat it. " - I'm not hungry!" Petros often said. One day, his mom announced, " - We're going to your grandpa's grocery store today. It has the best vegetables in town. Maybe you'll find something you like." Petros reluctantly agreed, thinking it would be another boring visit.
As Petros entered the store, his grandpa greeted him with a big smile. " - Petros, today you'll learn the secrets of my grocery," his grandpa said as they walked among the crates. Petros felt a magical sensation as the vegetables seemed to whisper to him. Suddenly, a green pepper called out, " - Welcome, Petros! We're here to show you more!" Petros was surprised and curious about this strange occurrence.
Petros watched in amazement as the vegetables began to move and talk. " - Emergency meeting of the Vegetable Building!" announced a large red tomato wearing glasses. Petros tried to stand up, but the peas had tied his shoelaces together! " - I'm Mrs. Tomato, the building manager," the tomato declared. " - We have a visitor who avoids all of us!" A carrot with a mustache added, " - I have vitamins for eyes, yet he never tries me!"
Feeling overwhelmed, Petros wanted to leave. " - It's not true!" he shouted. " - I just... I just don't like you!" he admitted. A small broccoli from the top floor asked, " - How can you dislike us without visiting our apartments?" Mrs. Tomato rang a bell, " - I propose we show him all the apartments!" Petros felt unsure about what would happen next.
The tour of the Vegetable Building began with surprises on every floor. There were roasted peppers with oil on the second, crunchy carrots on the first, and spinach with lemon on the third. Petros, hesitant at first, tried something from each floor. His eyes widened with delight. " - You're all delicious!" he exclaimed.
" - Wake up! Petros, wake up!" his mom gently shook him awake. Petros opened his eyes; he had dozed off in the grocery store chair. " - Mom," he said excitedly, " - Can we get vegetables from all the floors... I mean, all the kinds for a salad?" His mom smiled, surprised. As they left the store, Petros thought he saw Mrs. Tomato wink at him and Mr. Carrot wave goodbye. From that day, Petros not only ate his vegetables but helped his mom pick the best ones.
